VANCOUVER, BC, July 17, 2024 – Harbour Air, North America’s largest seaplane airline, is excited to announce that their Harbour Air eBeaver, the company’s first fully electric aircraft powered by a magniX electric engine, will be making its international debut with two flights at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture show in Oshkosh, WI taking place July 22nd – July 28th, 2024.
EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI is the world’s largest annual air show showcasing experimental aircraft, attracting more than 650,000 attendees, industry and aviation enthusiasts. Harbour Air will be showcasing Canadian innovation on the world stage by speaking at AirVenture 2024 forums and by flying their fully electric eBeaver aircraft on Tuesday July 23rd and Friday, July 26th. In addition, the company will be highlighted during Innovation Day on Tuesday July 23rd, where the eBeaver will be on full display.
“EAA AirVenture 2024 is an excellent opportunity for us to demonstrate that a more sustainable future in regional air transportation is possible”, states Bert van der Stege, CEO of Harbour Air. “We look forward to showcasing our current fully electric aircraft through flight demonstrations, as well as highlighting the advancement of innovative technologies with our engine partner magniX, including via a static eBeaver display at our booth.”
In early 2024, Harbour Air signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with magniX to secure the supply of 50 magni650 electric engines, followed by an LOI with Bel-Air Aviation for them to receive three of the converted aircraft upon certification. The eBeaver’s appearance at EAA AirVenture 2024 is a key step in continuing the company’s journey towards the future commercialization of electric flight.
“The eBeaver, powered by magniX’s industry leading electric engines, is a great example of how the aviation industry can decarbonize, without compromise on performance, safety and passenger satisfaction,” said Riona Armesmith, Chief Technology Officer of magniX. “Showcasing the aircraft with Harbour Air at Oshkosh enables us to further demonstrate the commercial viability and transformative potential of electric flight.”
