Following a network review, Harbour Air has made the difficult decision to suspend all services between Vancouver and Maple Bay from October 5th, as well as temporarily suspend our nonstop route to Vancouver from Sechelt starting October 8th, 2024 throughout the winter season until summer 2025.
This difficult decision was not made lightly and is due to a persistent softening in demand. We understand that network decisions impact our guests’ transportation options, and we apologize for the inconvenience and thank our guests for their patronage and support.
- For guests in Maple Bay looking to travel to Vancouver, Harbour Air flights are still available in Nanaimo and Victoria which provide alternative travel options up to 30 times a day. Any guests with a booking on the Maple bay route beyond 5th October will be notified and offered alternative options, including a full refund.
- For guests in Sechelt, Harbour Air will continue to offer a connecting service between Sechelt to Richmond (YVR South) and Vancouver Harbour (via Nanaimo) during this upcoming winter season. In addition, our nonstop Sechelt service will return in the spring of 2025. Any guests with bookings on the impacted flights from October 8th 2024 and beyond will be notified of the schedule change and presented with options and alternative flights.
As a result of these and other network changes, we have taken the difficult decision to realign our staffing needs to better match our future operational requirements. This has unfortunately included the closure of our Sechelt Pilot base this coming winter season, however the three impacted pilots have been offered a position in Vancouver based on seniority within the company. As mentioned previously, nonstop Sechelt service will also return in the spring of 2025.
Harbour Air will continue to provide regular service across our 12 destinations throughout Vancouver Island, the lower mainland, the Gulf Islands, Seattle and other BC locations.
